Additional degrees or the Master's Plus 30 Graduate Hours designation may be added to most certificate types. Verify your certificate is valid (not expired) before requesting an add-on endorsement. Consult with your Louisiana employing school system to make the certificate valid again before submitting any application for an add-on endorsement if the certificate has expired or is nearing expiration.
See the I would like to add to my certificate, but my certificate is currently expired. What should I do? article for more information.
Official Transcripts
Transcripts are required to be official for all certification purposes. To add a degree, verify the transcript shows the degree awarded/conferred with the date of award before submitting the request.
Official transcripts should be mailed or emailed directly to you or your employing school system and will be considered official when scanned and/or uploaded with your certification application. The Certification Office does not accept transcripts sent directly to our office via email or paper mail.
Master's Plus 30 Designation
Thirty (30) graduate-level semester hours in excess of the coursework required to award the first Master’s degree are required to add “Master’s Plus 30 Graduate Hours” to a valid certificate.
If any excess hours were earned before the award of the first Master’s degree or in the Master's degree program, hours in excess of the requirements to award the degree should be verified by the dean of the graduate school of the appropriate university on official letterhead.
All coursework must be completed at the graduate level with a grade of ‘C’ or better and be verified on official transcripts. Undergraduate-level coursework cannot be accepted.
If the additional hours resulted in a second graduate degree, both a request to add the second degree and a request to add the Master’s Plus 30 Graduate Hours designation must be made.
See the How do I request an add-on to my certificate (endorsement, degree, or designation)? article for information on submitting the application.
